The Listening Bowl
Material:
Walnut (from the collection of a woman fellow woodturner who can no longer turn) & Turquoise
Dimensions (approximate):
6.5" W x 2.5" H x 2" D
Description:
Turned from richly toned walnut, part of a collection once curated by a woman woodturner who can no longer shape the forms she once did, this bowl carries quiet strength. When a natural void appeared at the base, instead of discarding the piece, it was filled with black CA glue and genuine turquoise—transforming a flaw into a focal point.
Its form is simple and grounding. Its story is about perseverance. The result is a bowl that holds more than objects—it holds perspective.
Keeper’s Inscription (Haiku):
Tree once lost to time
sings again in grain and stone—
turquoise like the sky.
