Hand-Turned Redwood Bowl - Wabi Sabi Vessel - Rustic Home Decor

$95.00

MATERIAL:

Redwood, gifted through friendship. Removed from a man’s yard when it grew too close to his utilities, then carried to me by him and my neighbor, who thought I might find life in its grain. Before it reached me, insects had already left their mark—patterns of shelter and time that shaped the story further.

DIMENSIONS (APPROXIMATE):
10” W x 3.5” H

DESCRIPTION:
This bowl holds a quiet history of connection. Once a tree growing tall in a yard, it was taken down not by storm but by necessity. A man passed the wood to his longtime friend—my neighbor—who brought it to me. What could have been discarded instead became gift.

By then, insects had already been there, making their homes, softening the edges, leaving traces of their lives. Their work became part of mine, each turn of the lathe revealing not just wood, but the marks of time and the beings that shared it.

In the spirit of wabi sabi, this piece reminds us that beauty is never perfect, never finished. It is layered—tree, insect, friend, neighbor, hands. All part of one vessel.

Finished with food safe shellac and mineral oil.

KEEPER’S INSCRIPTION (HAIKU):
Carried by friendship,
insect paths beneath my hands—
redwood lives again.

🛒 Ships anywhere in the U.S. for a flat $15. Multiple items? Still just one flat fee.
